What is the Santos–Guarujá Tunnel?
It is a road link between Santos and Guarujá, built under the estuary, to improve mobility between the two cities.
What does “immersed tunnel” mean?
It is a type of tunnel built from large precast concrete modules installed on the bed of the Santos channel, with controlled and safe sinking and positioning.
How will the tunnel be built?
The works take place in stages: site preparation, including dredging of the channel and installation of the concrete modules on the channel bed, joined together, followed by installation of signaling and information systems, and finishing with pavements and finishes.
Will navigation and Port activities be affected?
The works are planned to maintain navigation and port operations. If there is any temporary change in specific periods, it will be communicated in advance and together with the responsible authorities.
Who is responsible for the works and operation?
TSG Concessionaire is the company responsible for implementing, operating and maintaining the tunnel, within the rules and oversight provided in the agreement and by the competent authorities.
For how long will TSG operate the project?
The Santos-Guarujá Tunnel concession has a contractual term of 30 years, intended to ensure implementation, operation and maintenance of the system over time.
When do the works begin?
The project is in the preparation and detailed design development phase. Official start dates and milestones will be announced once confirmed by the competent bodies.
Will there be expropriations? How will this be handled?

How will I know about detours and traffic changes?
Whenever there are temporary changes, they will be announced in advance through official channels, with road signage, detour maps and traffic guidance.
Will the works generate noise, vibration and dust? What will be done?
Works of this scale may generate temporary impacts. Control and monitoring measures for possible noise and vibration will be applied, with monitoring and corrective actions when needed, prioritizing the safety and well-being of the population.
How will safety be ensured in work areas?
Work fronts will be isolated and properly signposted, with safety procedures and preventive communication, especially in areas used by residents and workers.
Will the estuary and water quality be monitored?
Yes. The works will include appropriate environmental monitoring to control aspects such as channel conditions, sediments and water quality, in line with legal requirements and applicable conditions.
Will there be interventions in the power grid and other infrastructure?
Interference with existing networks and infrastructure may occur in projects of this type. When planned interventions take place, they will be coordinated with the responsible companies and communicated in advance.

How can I follow changes throughout the works?
There will be regular updates on the progress of work fronts, next steps and expected impacts, as well as specific notices whenever there is a relevant change in the neighborhood or traffic.
Will access to my home or business be restricted during the works?
Access to homes and businesses will be preserved as much as possible throughout all stages of the works. If a specific intervention requires a temporary access restriction, affected residents and business owners will be notified in advance, with clear guidance on alternative routes and the expected impact period. TSG will keep service channels available to register individual situations and provide the support needed in each case.
What will happen to public transport during the works?
Public transport in the region will remain in operation throughout all stages of the works. If any intervention requires temporary changes to bus lines or ferry operations, the changes will be planned together with the responsible agencies and operators, and communicated to the public in advance. TSG will monitor impacts on local mobility and work to minimize disruption, ensuring the population continues to have access to transport options available in the region.
Will the tunnel create jobs for local residents? How do I apply?
Yes, the works and future tunnel operation may generate job opportunities, including positions for residents of the region. TSG will prioritize local hiring whenever possible. Available vacancies, requirements and official application channels will be announced publicly before the start of each stage.
